Is it just me...

I feel mildly rude whenever someone comes into chat and says "hello everybody" and I don't say hello.

But seriously, if EVERYONE said hello to everybody the chat rooms would be full of hardly anything but hellos!

What I especially hate is if you DO say hello, the new person often says hello AGAIN.

Thoughts?

So, when I go to chat, instead of saying "Hey everyone!"

I should say something like:

"Who wants cake?!" smiley

(I'm never in there chatting though. It's like school....lol)

And THAT'S why I never go in... most of the time,

The rest of the time I just post thoughts and random comments in the forum area, look at my MSG box with the same 5 msgs of the past year and then jump onto Twitter to hone my comical craft! hahaha smiley

While I'm rather charming and funny...I find it difficult to start chats with a lot of people online as my wit, sarcasm, charm, humor are hard to read via the interwebs in normal convo... Meh,

Someday I'll venture more into the chats but, for now I'm content being a forum attention whore...haha smiley

I don't want to put you all to shame with my random trivia knowledge!

I did quizzo at the local bar for 7 months, every wednesday, until the guy who did it packed up and moved to Texas... damn him! I'll have to come to the ones here....

Wait, how can you have Trivia on a computer?! Can't everyone just google answers?! lol

I have to say I usually have a strange experience when entering a chat room. I say hello and then see if I can engage a group of people or an individual into a conversation and notice that everybody seems to be talking about some subject that I have no clue about, but they seem to be totally into. My further efforts keep being ignored, eventhough I am polite and try not to be too trivial or superficial. I love good conversation and regularly have total dynamite cool chats one on one with the IMs, but never in a chat room. It seems weird, a cacophony of disjointed conversations. I guess that is why I don't like it much. Sometimes I wonder if that is because in a chatroom, nobody really pays much attention, since there are no faces. No respect is required, people probably do another 5 things at the same time or are spaced out. Very different than in real life, where in a group, if somebody is talking to you, you would probably not read your texts on your phone at the same time. Maybe somebody that had more luck can enlighten how I could create my experience better.
